SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - Head coach
Brandon Barkus leads Augustana soccer into Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Tournament play on Wednesday looking to make some history. The Vikings are seeking to record their first-ever win in NSIC postseason play.
The Vikings clinched the No. 7 seed with a win over previously ranked Southwest Minnesota State on Sunday.
The Vikings will play No. 2 seed Winona state (14-2-2, 13-2 NSIC) on Wednesday at 4 p.m. at Verizon Wireless Stadium in Winona, Minn.
The teams met once earlier this year, with the Warriors winning the match 3-1 on Oct. 27.
This is the third time in four years that Augustana has qualified for the NSIC postseason.
If Augustana wins, then they will play the winner of the Minnesota Duluth/Bemidji State game on Friday at 11 a.m. or 12 p.m. The match will be played at the highest remaining seed's home field. The finals are set for Sunday at 1 p.m.
