NSIC RELEASE
BURNSVILLE, Minn. - Augustana's Hanna Gebauer was named Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference women's tennis player of the week in a release on Tuesday afternoon. This is Gebauer's first player of the week honor this year.
A Sioux Falls, S.D. native, Gebauer posted a 4-0 match record this weekend as the Vikings dominated U-Mary and Minnesota State to stay undefeated in the 2013 season.
In the Saturday's match against U-Mary, Gebauer moved up one spot to No. 3 singles and earned a 6-3, 6-1 victory. Back at No. 4 singles the following day, the senior blanked her Minnesota State adversary in straight sets, winning 6-0, 6-0.
On the doubles circuit, Gebauer paired with
Jessa Richards and have formed an unstoppable tandem at the No. 2 doubles spot. The two defeated U-Mary's No. 2 singles team 8-1 and shut out MSU's second pairing 8-0.
Gebauer and Richards are currently ranked as the eighth-best pairing in the Central Region and are 4-0 on the season. The two have earned a pair of 8-0 wins and equaled that amount with two 8-1 victories.
Gebauer has only given up more than two games in a single set just one time and has shut out her opponent in a set on four occasions.
The Vikings return home this weekend to face Upper Iowa and Southwest Minnesota State on Feb. 17 at Sioux Empire Fitness.
