MATCH SCORES
STORM LAKE, Iowa. – Augustana snapped its three-match losing skid with a 6-3 win over Buena Vista on Saturday afternoon. The Vikings moved to 5-3 on the season while Buena Vista suffered their fourth loss of the season, falling to 7-4.
Augustana won four of the singles matches after taking two of the three doubles bouts to win their fifth match of the season.
Jackson Buchanan and
Jared Hofer won the no. 2 doubles match 8-4 and
Brock Baade and
Dane Rasmussen won a highly contested No. 3 doubles match 9-7 to give the Vikings a 2-1 edge entering singles play.
Mitchell Barr and
Collin Noldner avenged their No. 1 doubles loss with straight-set victories at the top two singles flights. Buchanan lost a tight three-set match at No. 3, falling 13-11 in the third-set super tiebreaker 13-11 after splitting the first two sets.
Hofer edged his opponent at No. 4 singles 6-4, 6-2, but
Colan Surratt fell 6-4, 6-3 in the fifth singles slot.
Dane Rasmussen closed out the Viking win with a 6-4, 6-4 win in the sixth singles flight.
The Vikings return to action on the road with a doubleheader against St. Cloud State and Gustavus Adolphus in St. Peter, Minn. on Saturday, April 13.
