SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - Augustana logged its sixth sweep of the season when they downed Missouri Western State in straight sets (25-17, 25-21, 25-14) on Saturday night. The Vikings remain undefeated with an 8-0 record while the Griffons fall to 2-6.
Courtney Ysker continued her scorching-hot start with 16 more kills and 10 digs for her third-straight double-double. The Vikings were efficient on the offensive attack, finishing the match with a .344 attack percentage and two more Vikings had double-digit kills.
Augustana hit .410 in the first set with Ysker and Brittany Cech combining for 12 kills to take it 25-17. Six Vikings recorded a dig to finish the set with 22, led by Kayla Wallerich's seven - she finished the match with a team-high 10.
Holly Hafemeyer teamed with Ysker and Cech to carry the Vikings to a 25-21 second-set win. Hafemeyer finished tallied five kills in the second stanza and finished the match with 10.
The third set was all Vikings as Ysker reached her double-double with five kills and a pair of digs and led Augustana to a 25-14 match-clinching win. Augustana's defense held the Griffons to a .107 attack percentage in the third set and a .184 mark overall.
Marissa Johnson finished with 36 assists on the night and finished with a 13.62 assist/set average to lead all participants in the tournament.
The Vikings now enter Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference play with their NSIC opener scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 19 against No. 14 Southwest Minnesota State in the Elmen Center.
