Holly Hafemeyer's tournament performance earned her SpringHill Suites Invitational Most Outstanding Player, but her 20-kill performance was the driving factor in Augustana's 3-1 win over Alaska-Anchorage (20-25, 29-27, 25-18, 25-20) to earn the unofficial tournament title. The Vikings remain unbeaten at 4-0 while the Seawolves fall to 4-3 on the season.

Hafemeyer amassed 55 kills in Augustana's four matches while hitting at .400 clip and Augustana was the team leader in hitting percentage with a .307 mark – over 100 points better than the second-highest team.  The Vikings led in five of the seven categories for the tournament and placed three more Vikings on the All-Tournament team.

Sophomore setter Marissa Johnson dished out 13.77 assists/set to lead all tournament participants and earned an All-Tournament nod; Johnson assisted on a career-high 57 kills in the championship match.  Junior outside hitter Courtney Ysker joins Hafemyer and Johnson on the All-Tournament team after smashing a tournament-high 57 kills.

After dropping the first set 25-20, the Vikings evened the match with a marathon win 29-27 on the back of Johnson's 21 assists. Augustana held a 21-19 lead after a pair of kills and a UAA error, but the Seawolves tied the match at 22-all and neither team budged until Hafemeyer drilled back-to-back kills to give the Vikings the set win.

A Ysker-led five-point run gave the Vikings a third-set lead they would not surrender as they took the set 25-18. For the fourth-set, match-clinching win, the Vikings methodically put away the Seawolves for a 25-20 victory.

Kayla Wallerich tallied 17 digs in the championship match and finished the tournament with 53 total digs, a 4.08 digs/set average. Julia Witt's serving – a tournament high eight aces – helped the Vikings to the season-opening tournament win.

Augustana returns to the friendly confines of the Elmen Center to co-host the inaugural NSIC Challenge on Sept. 13 and 14.
