SIOUX FALLS, S.D. –
After a slow start by both teams, Augustana rolled to a 94-53 victory over the University of Sioux Falls on Friday night in front of 3,713 fans at the Elmen Center. The Vikings (12-7, 9-4 NSIC) shot 54 percent from the field and hit 11 3-pointers to down the Cougars (8-9, 5-8 NSIC). The win also marks the 275th career victory for Augustana head coach Tom Billeter.

Augustana had four players in double-figures, led by Casey Schilling's 20 points. Schilling added eight rebounds, three assists and two steals, while matching his career-high with three 3-point field goals.

Adam Beyer matched his career-high with 12 points to go along with four rebounds and four assists. Daniel Jansen added 14 points while Yuriy Malashenko picked up 10 for the Vikings.

USF finished the game shooting 32 percent from the field, hitting 2 of 23 (eight percent) from 3-point range and was led by Mahlon Jones' 17 points.

Augustana and USF started off the game a combined 3 of 19 from the field through the first five, as the Vikings took a 5-2 lead into the first media timeout.

The Vikings got some momentum when Malashenko took the ball to the basket and was fouled and he hit both his free throws to push Augustana's lead to 7-2. Augustana's next three field goals came from 3-point range as Jansen, Guske and Schilling each hit from long range to help the Vikings push their lead to 17-6 with 11:37 remaining in the first half.

Augustana got a boost from the 3-point barrage as it went on an 18-6 run over the next 5:38 to take its largest lead of the night at 35-14. The Cougars cut Augustana's lead to 14 at 38-24 with a minute left in the half but Guske hit his second 3-pointer of the half and the Vikings went into the locker room with a 41-4 lead.

The Vikings finished the half shooting 42 percent from the field, knocking down six first-half 3-pointers. Schilling led the Vikings with 12 points and five rebounds in the first half and was followed by Jansen's 10 points.

USF was 8 of 27 from the field in the half, including 1 of 11 from 3-point range, finishing 29 percent from the field. Jones led the Cougars with 11 points in the first half, going 3 of 5 from the field and 5 of 5 from the free throw line.

Augustana picked up right where it left off in the first half and went on a 12-6 run over the first four minutes to go in front 53-30 after Schilling nailed his second 3-pointer of the night. The Vikings led by as much as 43 points in the second half, and went on to win by its second largest margin of victory on the season.

Augustana returns to action tomorrow night with a crucial game against Southwest Minnesota State University at 6 p.m. at the Elmen Center. Augustana and SMSU are currently tied in the conference standings at 9-4.
