Vikings set for NSIC play this week

Vikings prepared for big week of NSIC play

This Week
• No. 20 Augustana is set to host cross-town rival University of Sioux Falls on Tuesday, Oct. 14 in the Elmen Center. Start time is scheduled for 7 p.m.
• The Vikings (14-4) (7-3 NSIC) will follow the USF match-up hitting the road for two top matches.
• On Friday, Oct. 17 Augustana will take on No. 3 Concordia-St.Paul with a start time of 7 p.m.
• Following Friday's match-up against the Golden Bears, the Vikings will close out the weekend at Minnesota State-Mankato with a start time of 4 p.m.


Series History 
       vs. Sioux Falls
• The Vikings hold the upper-hand against the Cougars with an overall record of 21-12.
• Augustana won 14 straight matches beginning in 1981.
• The Vikings are 1-1 in the conference against USF. 
• Last season, Augustana lost in a five-set thriller with scores of 27-25, 27-25, 23-25, 26-28, 13-15 at the Stewart Center.
• The Vikings met for the first in 1977 winning 2-1.

        vs. Concordia- St. Paul
• Augustana is 1-18 overall against the Golden Bears of Concordia-St.Paul.
• The Vikings complied an overall record of 0-9 in conference play against CU.
• Augustana won 3-0 first time meeting, followed by 17 straight losses.

    vs. Minnesota State
• The Vikings are 31-26 overall against the Mavericks.
• Augustana is 28-15 in conference, 13-8 at home, and 15-13 away verse MSU. 
• The Vikings beat Minnesota State last season 3-1.
• In 2012 Augustana won both matches against the Top-25 ranked Mavericks.
• The Vikings lost 0-3 the first time meeting in 1983, followed by five straight losses.

Last Week in Review
• The Vikings went 2-0 in conference play this past weekend finishing with an overall record of 7-3 (NSIC) and 6-0 on the road.
                
            vs. Minot State
• No. 19 Augustana traveled to play Minot State in Minot, N.D. 
• The Vikings swept the Beavers in three sets with scores of 25-20, 25-18, and 25-16.
• The Vikings improved to 13-4 (6-3 NSIC) with the victory.
• Minot State dropped to 2-7 in the conference with the loss.
Courtney Ysker dominated at the net leading the Vikings with 13 kills in the three set victory.
Ashley Wilson followed Ysker's performance with 13 kills.
• Wilson recorded a team-best .474 (12-3-19) attack percentage in the 3-0 victory.
• Freshman setter Alex Banker recorded a team-best and season high 22 assists on the night.
• Freshman Tahlyr Banks led the team with 20 digs.

            vs. U-Mary
• Augustana followed the Minot State matchup traveling to Bismarck, N.D. to take the Marauders of U-Mary.
• The Vikings swept the Marauders in three sets with scores of 25-19, 25-20, and 25-19 Saturday evening in the McDowell Center.
• Augustana improved to 14-4 (7-3 NSIC) while U-Mary dropped to 3-16 (0-10 NSIC).
• Ysker  and Brittany Cech recorded eight kills apiece to lead the Vikings.
Bailey Koch followed Ysker's and Cech's performance with six kills, while Wilson added five.
• Junior setter Marissa Johnson led Augustana with 15 assists.
• Banks had a team-best 13 digs.
