SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The 23rd-ranked Augustana soccer team made history on Friday, setting the program record for most wins in a season in a 5-0 shutout of rival Sioux Falls. The win pushed the Vikings' record to 14-3 (12-2 in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference), while the Cougars fell to 2-14-1 (2-12 NSIC) with the loss.

The Vikings also secured the No. 2 seed in the upcoming US Bank/NSIC Tournament and will host a home match next Wednesday at Morstad Field, a place they have yet to lose at this year (8-0) and have won 15 of the their last 16 matches at.

Augustana also picked up its first point in the First Dakota National Bank Mayor's Cup Challenge between the two schools.

Freshman super sub Samantha Arnold continued her stellar year, scoring two goals in the victory. The Council Bluffs, Iowa native now has eight goals on the season, second highest total on the team.

Freshmen Samantha Tymkowicz and Courtney Almendinger each had an assist in the win.

Ashley Limmer and Taylor Machacek teamed up to give Augustana its sixth shutout of the season.

The Vikings finished the match with a 21-11 advantage in shots against USF, upping its record in 2014 to 8-0 this year when taking more than 20 shots in a match.
