SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Augustana College men's basketball is set to open its 93rd season this Friday and Saturday at the Sanford Pentagon Basketball Showcase. The Vikings open the regular season taking on Washburn University at 8 p.m. on Friday before squaring-off with Pittsburg State University at 8 p.m. on Saturday.
 
Augustana is opening the regular season at the Sanford Pentagon Basketball Showcase for the second straight season. The Vikings went 0-2 at the season-opening showcase last season. The Vikings will be playing Washburn and Pittsburg State for the first time in school history.
 
Augustana played their lone exhibition contest of the season last weekend and earned an 81-69 overtime victory over the University of Wisconsin-River Falls. The Vikings overcame an 11-point second-half deficit to defeat the Falcons behind four players reaching double-figures.
 
Daniel Jansen led the Vikings with 15 points and 12 rebounds while Ethan Guske finished with 14 points on 5 of 9 shooting, including 4 of 8 from 3-point range. Casey Schilling pitched in with 14 points, eight rebounds, five assists, two steals and a block.
