WARRENSBURG, Mo. – No. 3 seed Augustana soccer had its season come to an end in an opening-round loss in the NCAA Central Region Tournament on Friday. The Vikings fell 1-0 to sixth-seeded Central Oklahoma at Jennies Field.
Augustana closed out its most successful year in program history with a record of 14-6, while the Bronchos improved to 14-4-3 with the win and onto the second round for a meeting with No. 2 seed Central Missouri.
The Vikings were held to seven shots in the loss, only the third time this season that they have been held to single digits in shot attempts.
Augustana had opportunities in the first half, but just came up short on those scoring chances while holding off the UCO attack with some great defensive play.

Samantha Arnold and
Annie Thoresen led the Vikings in shots with two each. Arnold registered Augustana's lone shot on goal in the match.
The Bronchos had 16 shots on the day, including seven on goal.
Ashley Limmer wrapped up her career making six saves in goal for the Vikings. Limmer's career record of 26-20-1 is the first winning record by an Augustana goalie for their career in program history.
Both teams really battled in a cold-weathered contest throughout the first half, with UCO holding a 9-5 advantage in shots as each team entered the half with the score tied at zero.
Samantha Tymkowicz highlighted the Vikings' attack in the first half, narrowly missing a shot wide right that would've given Augustana a 1-0 lead with about two minutes remaining until the break.
In the second half, Central Oklahoma was able to take control of possession and begin pressing its attack deep into the Vikings' side of the field. Foran finally broke open the scoreless match in the 55th minute, scoring off a set piece from the corner to give the Bronchos a one-goal lead.
Augustana created a few chances for itself but it couldn't capitalize in the second half, falling 1-0 and seeing its year coming to an end.
The Vikings will return in the spring of 2015 to begin their spring season.
