Men's basketball set for final non-conference match-up

No. 19 Augustana will host Valley City State at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Elmen Center

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – No. 19 Augustana College men's basketball will play its final non-conference game of the season tomorrow night, hosting Valley City State University at 7 p.m. at the Elmen Center. Augustana enters the contest winners of six straight games (6-0), including an 89-71 conference-opening win over Wayne State on Monday night at the Sioux Falls Arena.
 
Daniel Jansen led Augustana in the NSIC opener against Wayne State with a season-high 33 points to go along with nine rebounds and a career-high six steals. Jansen now sits at 982 career points, putting him just 18 away from becoming the 30th member of the 1,000-Point Club in Augustana men's basketball history.
 
The Vikings enter Wednesday night's contest averaging 89 points per game while shooting 49.9 percent from the field, including 36.4 percent from 3-point range. Augustana has shot 50 percent or better in four of six games this season, and has eight players shooting 50 percent or better from the field.
 
Augustana entered the national rankings on Tuesday afternoon as the NABC released its first regular season top 25 poll. The Vikings are ranked 19th in the country after receiving votes in the preseason poll on Nov. 6.
 
After playing its final non-conference game tomorrow night, Augustana will hit the road for its first NSIC road trip Dec. 5-6. The Vikings will take on 14th-ranked Minnesota State at 8 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 5, before playing Concordia-St. Paul at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 6.
