ST. CLOUD, Minn. –
Missouri Western State's pitcher Jackie Bishop had a perfect game going through five innings before No. 8 Augustana scored three runs on three hits and an error in the bottom of the sixth inning to defeat the Griffons 3-1 on Sunday. The game was Augustana's final at the Husky Dome Classic in St. Cloud, Minn. The Vikings finished 3-1 in St. Cloud and are now 7-2 on the season while Missouri Western drops to 9-4 on the year.

After delivering the game-winning home run in Augustana's first game on Sunday, Jordan Schaffer started the Vikings' sixth-inning rally with a leadoff single. Maddie Merriam followed with a single and Abby Chandler grounded out to first base but Merriam was able to move up to third and Emily Heinz scored on a throwing error by the Griffons. Heinz pinch ran for Schaffer after the leadoff single.

Caitlin Nichol then gave the Vikings a 2-1 lead with a sacrifice fly to left field to score Merriam and Sarah Kennedy added the insurance with her first career home run to give Augustana a 3-1 lead heading into the seventh inning.

Jenelle Trautmann yielded a leadoff single but was able to get out of the inning striking out two batters and forcing a groundout for her fifth win of the season. Trautmann (5-1) tossed all seven innings giving up five hits and one run while striking out seven batters.

Missouri Western took a 1-0 lead in the top of the second inning with a two-out RBI single by Kat Steponovich. The Griffons had two hits in the second inning, but Trautmann held them to just two the remainder of the game. Missouri Western finished the game with five hits, while the Vikings saved their only three for the bottom of the sixth inning.

Augustana returns to action March 9-12 with an eight-game trip to Winterhaven, Fla. where the Vikings will compete at the Rebel Spring Games.
