Storylines
• No. 13 Augustana softball (28-7, 11-3 NSIC) will quickly return to action traveling to Northern Minnesota to take on Minnesota Duluth on Friday and St. Cloud State on Saturday. 
• The Vikings and Bulldogs (17-14, 3-3 NSIC) will get underway at 2 p.m. on Friday at James S. Malosky Stadium on the UMD campus. 
• Augustana will then head to the Granite City to take on St. Cloud State (8-18-1, 2-7-1 NSIC) at noon on Saturday.
• The Vikings are coming off a split at USF on Wednesday.  

Player of the week
• Junior Jenelle Trautmann earned NSIC Pitcher of the Week honors for her 3-0 effort last week.
• Trautmann posted a 0.78 ERA in five appearances, getting wins against No. 19 Winona State striking out six batters in six innings of work. 
• She then picked up a win over Bemidji State striking out five batters while tossing a one-hitter in four innings before striking out seven in a win over Minnesota Crookston that improved her to 18-2 on the season. 
• Trautmann has been named Pitcher of the Week twice this season and three times on her career.

National news
• Augustana is ranked 13th in the latest National Fastpitch Coaches' Association Top 25 poll. 
• The Vikings were ranked 22nd in the NFCA preseason poll. 
• The Vikings are 3-2 against ranked opponents this season.
• In the first game of the season, Augustana took down the defending national champion and No. 1 ranked team in Central Oklahoma.

Last time out
• Augustana split a twinbill at USF on Wednesday afternoon, winning the opener 3-2 before falling 9-0 in the nightcap. 
• In game one, Jordan Schaffer hit a two-out RBI single in the top of the sixth inning to give Augustana a one-run lead which it would hold on to. 
Jenelle Trautmann played two roles for the Vikings, getting a big two-run home run in the fourth inning and the win in the circle. 
• Trautmann struck out six batters to improve to 19-2 on the season. 
Carley Pickett earned her seventh save of the year pitching the final two innings to tie for the national lead in saves. 
• Pickett struck out three batters and allowed just one hit in her two innings of work. 
• It was all USF in game two as the Cougars went for five runs in the bottom of the first and four more in the bottom of the fourth. 
• The five-inning loss by run-rule marked the first time since April 20, 2009 that Augustana has been eight-runned by an opponent. 
• The loss also marked just the second ever to USF and first since 1978. 

Closing in on a record 
Jenelle Trautmann has hit 41 career home runs at Augustana, bringing her within two of tying the career record which was set by Theresa McMahon who hit 43 from 2010-2013. 
• Trautmann has hit five home runs this season and is closing in on her former teammate and current coach. 
• Trautmann hit 38 home runs in two seasons, blasting 18 during her freshman campaign and 18 more last season as a sophomore. 
• Trautmann, a junior, is on pace to hit 70-plus career home runs, which would shatter the current record. 

About Minnesota Duluth
• Minnesota Duluth owns a 17-14 record on the season, including 3-3 in NSIC contests. 
• The Bulldogs will be playing their first home games in nearly three years when they take the field at James S. Malosky Stadium. 
• UMD split a four-game road trip last weekend dropping two games at USF and sweeping Southwest Minnesota State. 
• The Bulldogs are batting .286 as a team and have scored 143 runs and hit 24 home runs as a team. 
• Jordan Rice leads the team with a .379 batting aveareg with nine doubles, eight home runs and 28 RBI. 
• Cayli Sadler owns a 13-8 record in the circle with 103 strikeouts while compiling a 2.52 ERA. 
• Jen Banford is in her eighth season as the head coach at Minnesota Duluth. 

About St. Cloud State
• St. Cloud State is 8-18-1 on the season, including 2-7-1 in conference play. 
• The Huskies have lost five of their last seven games, winning their last game 9-0 against Minnesota Crookston. 
• SCSU is batting .266 as a team and has scored 84 runs with 27 doubles and two home runs. 
• Breana Canova leads SCSU at the plate batting .370 on the team with a team-high seven doubles and 18 RBI.
• Kelly Franks is 3-9 in the circle for the Huskies with a 3.42 ERA and has struck out 105 batters. 
• Paula U'Ren is in her 17th season as the head coach at St. Cloud State.  

Bats come alive in debut at Bowden
• In eight games at Bowden Field, Augustana is hitting .439 as a team with 10 doubles, one triple and 11 home runs. 
• The Vikings are 8-0 at Bowden Field this season and have boosted their offensive out-put since playing its first home games. 
• Before playing its first home game on March 29, Augustana was batting .288 as a team on the season. 
• Augustana has boosted its team batting average to .324 and has seven of its nine starters batting over .300 individually.
