SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – No. 13 Augustana College picked up a sweep over Bemidji State University with a 13-1 win in game one and a 9-5 win in the nightcap. The Vikings (25-6, 8-2 NSIC) scored a season-high runs in game one and used a grand slam in game two to jump ahead of the Beavers (11-13, 0-8 NSIC). 

Game one
 
Trautmann improved to 17-2 on the season striking out five batters in four innings of work. Trautmann also finished 2 for 2 at the plate with a home run, two RBI while scoring two runs. Trautmann was one of five Vikings with multiple hits in the game.
 
Caitlin Nichol was 2 for 4 with a home run and two RBI, Sarah Kennedy finished 2 for 2 with three runs scored, Erin Kempf was 2 for 2 with three RBI and Carly Peterson was 2 for 3 with a triple and two RBI.
 
The Vikings grabbed a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning on three singles. Nichol led off the inning with a single up the middle before moving to second on a sacrifice bunt by Alstott. Sarah Kennedy then singled to put runners on first and second for Trautmann who popped out to second on an infield fly.
 
Spanton walked to load the bases and Erin Kempf delivered a two-RBI single up the middle to give Augustana a first-inning lead.
 
Kennedy started a third-inning rally for the Vikings with a leadoff single and Trautmann followed with a two-run home run to center field to push the score to 4-0. The home run marked the third of the seaon for Trautmann, putting her at 39 for her career and four shy of the school record of 43. After a groundout, Kempf singled to left field and Peterson sent a triple to right center field to score Kempf from first and she later came in to score on a wild pitch to give Augustana a 6-0 lead.
 
Bemidji State scored its only run of the game in the top of the fourth inning on an RBI double by Lyndsey Peterson. The Vikings were nearly out of the inning after turning a 1-6-3 double play but a two-out walk and a double brought BSU within five at 6-1.
 
Augustana then exploded for seven runs on five hits in the bottom of the fourth inning to go in front 13-1 putting the eight-run rule into effect after the top of the fifth inning. In the fourth, the Vikings got a two-run home run from Nichol, marking her second straight game with a round-tripper.
 
Game two

Augustana jumped out to a big lead again in game two, getting a grand slam from Spanton. Spanton finished the game 3 for 3 with a career-high six RBI. Trautmann was 1 for 2 with two RBI and Peterson delivered her second straight multiple-hit game going 2 for 3 with a run batted in.
 
Carley Pickett earned the win in the circle for Augustana improving to 6-3 on the season. Pickett tossed five innings striking out three batters and allowing six hits.
 
The Vikings loaded the bases in the bottom of the first getting three straight walks with one out to set up Spanton's grand slam. Spanton stepped to the plate and hit a 1-0 pitch over the fence in the left field for her fourth home run of the season giving the Vikings a 4-0 lead.
 
Augustana pushed its lead to 7-0 in the bottom of the second inning scoring three runs on four hits. With the bases loaded, Trautmann was hit by a pitch to drive in the first run and Spanton later singled through the left side of the infield to drive in two and push Augustana's lead to seven.
 
Bemidji State would not go away quietly as it would put up five runs on four hits in the top of the third to get within two. Lyndsey Peterson hit the grand slam for BSU to make it a 7-5 game after the Beavers scored on an RBI single earlier in the inning.
 
The Vikings were held hitless over the next three innings before cushioning its lead with two runs on three hits in the bottom of the sixth inning. With two outs in the inning, Trautmann singled to drive in a run to give Augustana an 8-5 lead and later in the inning Peterson drove in another on a single to left field to push it to 9-5.
 
Trautmann, who came into pitch in the top of the sixth inning, earned her first save of the season for Augustana going two innings and striking out one while not giving up a hit.
 
Augustana returns to action tomorrow afternoon hosting Minnesota Crookston at 12 p.m. at Bowden Field.
