SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Augustana College football opens the 2014 season this Saturday, traveling to Crookston, Minn. to take on the University of Minnesota Crookston. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. at Ed Widseth field on the UMC campus. The Vikings enter the season under the direction of second-year head coach
Jerry Olszewski and are coming off a 4-7 record a season ago.
Augustana returns four All-NSIC performers from last season, all on the defensive side of the ball, including first team selections
Jake Lee and
Ben Skelly. Junior linebacker
Brandon Mohr (second team) and junior defensive back
Justin Brown (honorable mention) also return on the Viking defense which brings back eight starters from last season.
Saturday's game will be the fifth meeting between Augustana and Minnesota Crookston since the series began in 2004. The Vikings are 4-0 all-time against the Golden Eagles and have out-scored them by a score of 203-7 in the four meetings. Augustana is in search of its third straight season-opening win when it takes the field on Saturday.
