SIOUX FALLS, S.D.Samantha Arnold put on quite the show for the fans in attendance in Augustana soccer's 4-0 home-opening victory against Wayne State on Thursday. The win also doubled as the Vikings Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference opener as well.

Augustana racked up their second win in a row and improved to 2-1 (1-0 NSIC) on the season, while the Wildcats fell to 1-1-1 (0-1 NSIC) with the loss.

Arnold, making her home debut at Morstad Field, picked up two goals and an assist in the shutout victory in just 28 minutes of play. The Council Bluffs, Iowa native's two goals give her a team-leading three on the year.

Fellow freshman forward Samantha Tymkowicz also recorded her second goal of the year in the win. Tymkowicz has now scored goals in back-to-back games for the Vikings.

Kirsten Smith chipped in with her first goal of 2014 in the second half.

Augustana broke open a scoreless game in the 29th minute of regulation with Arnold taking a Taylor Brownrigg pass and firing it past the keeper to make it 1-0. For Brownrigg, it was her first assist of the season.

Less than four minutes later, The Vikings made it 2-0 after Tymkowicz and Arnold teamed up for a goal, something that seems to be a trend through three games, on a beautiful cross-and-finish play by the duo. Tymkowicz scored the Arnold cross for her second goal on the year. Arnold was credited with the first assist of her collegiate career on the play.

Augustana made it a three-goal game at the 56:31 mark on a Kirsten Smith goal. Smith took Payton Pry's pass the put it past the Wayne State keeper for her first goal this season. Pry tallied her first assist of 2014 on the play.

Arnold capped off her magnificent night in the 71st minute of play, taking an Emily Jacobson pass and making an incredible chip shot from 15 yards out on the right side of the goal, giving the Vikings a 4-0 lead.

The Augustana defense took care of the rest, securing its first shutout of the season.

Viking goalkeeper Ashley Limmer made three saves in net during the win.
