SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – No. 6 Augustana College men's basketball overcame a season-high 19 turnovers to earn its 12th straight win with a 92-81 victory over Upper Iowa University (12-8, 8-6 NSIC). Three Vikings registered 20-plus points, led by Daniel Jansen and Casey Schilling who each scored 21. Alex Richter pitched in with 20 points and seven rebounds to help the Vikings improve to 19-1, 13-1 NSIC.
 
Jansen added eight rebounds in the game, picking up his 500th career rebound in the process. Jansen becomes just the 15th player in Augustana men's basketball history with 1,000-plus points and 500-plus rebounds. Jansen moved into 15th all-time on the scoring list with 1,264 career points.
 
How it happened
• The Vikings got off to a fast start opening the game on an 11-2 run just 2:28 into the game.
• Casey Schilling had the hot hand early scoring nine points in the first four and a half minutes of the game as the Vikings jumped out to a 13-9 lead at the first media timeout of the night.
• With Augustana holding a 15-9 lead, Upper Iowa's Jernell Hughes came off the bench and scored six straight points for the Peacocks on two 3-pointers to tie the game at 15 with 11:25 to play in the first.
• The Peacocks were able to build a four-point lead using four straight 3-pointers to go up 23-19 just past the midway point of the first half.
• Augustana then started to attack the rim, scoring 10 of its next 13 points from the paint, while hitting three free throws to regain the lead at 32-28.
• Upper Iowa cut the lead to one possession twice in the final four minutes of the half but the Vikings closed on a 12-0 run over the final 2:14 to take a 49-35 lead.
• Augustana finished the first half shooting 62.5 percent (20 of 32) from the field.
• The Vikings were cool from behind the arc to start the game hitting just two of its first nine 3-point attempts.
• Tanner Odegaard and Steven Schaefer stopped the drought from long range hitting three in a two-minute stretch to help the Vikings build the 14-point halftime lead.
• Casey Schilling led the Vikings in the first 20 minutes with 15 points on 6 of 8 shooting while going 3 of 3 from the free throw line.
• Daniel Jansen finished the half with 11 points and four rebounds while Schaefer pitched in with seven points.
• Augustana came out firing from 3-point range in the second half, hitting two just a minute in to build a 19-point 57-38 lead.
• Upper Iowa went to the 3-point shot to cut the lead in half, knocking down three over a 15-5 run to get within nine at 62-53 with 15:16 to play.
• UIU extended its run to 24-9 to get within four at 66-62 with 11:33 remaining in the game.
• Alex Richter willed the Vikings back to a nine-point lead, scoring seven straight points, as the Vikings were able to push their lead up to nine at 71-62.
• After and offensive board and a putback by Richter, Adam Beyer scored on the break to give the Vikings the nine point lead.
• The Vikings used the momentum to build another double-digit lead, eventually going up by 18.
• Augustana shot 52 percent from the field in the second half, hitting 4 of 9 from 3-point range.
• Richter drilled three second-half 3-pointers, scoring 18 of his 20 points in the final 20 minutes.
