BISMARCK, N.D.- Samantha Tymkowicz scored in the second minute of overtime to help give Augustana soccer a 2-1 victory over University of Mary, Sunday afternoon at MDU Resources Community Bowl. The win gives the Vikings a 13-2-1 record on the season, 11-1-1 in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference. The loss dropped the Marauders to 2-11-2, 2-10-1 in the NSIC.

In the first half, both teams started out slow trying to get into a rhythm. Emily Jacobson had a chance in the 26th minute but U-Mary's goalie Kelsey Ekstedt made the save to keep the game tied at zero. The Marauders outshot the Vikings 5-3 in the half.

U-Mary had a chance for a quick second half goal however Taylor Machacek came up with the save to keep the game scoreless.

Tymkowicz would then give Augustana a 1-0 lead when she headed one home from a cross from Stephanie Stevens. The goal was Tymkowicz's 12th of the season, Stevens would pick up her sixth assist of the season on the play.

The Marauders would tie the game at one in the 83rd minute on a goal from Mykala Benjamin.

In the overtime session, Kirsten Smith tried for a pass intended for Tymkowicz that went off the goalkeeper in which Tymkowicz would tap it in to score her 13th goal of the season and give the Vikings a 2-1 overtime victory.

The win gives Augustana their sixth road victory of the season, which ties the team record set in 2008.

The Vikings will return to the pitch next weekend for a home and away series against Southwest Minnesota State on Friday and University of Sioux Falls on Sunday.
