SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - No. 20 Augustana will hit the pavement this weekend as they make their second to last regular season road trip of the season. The Vikings will be in Moorhead, Minn on Friday to take on the Dragons of MSU Moorhead, followed by a match-up against second ranked Wolves of Northern State in Aberdeen, S.D.
The Vikings (16-6, 9-5 NSIC) are coming off a long week where they went 2-1 with victories over Minot State and U-Mary. Their lone loss came at the hands of No. 6 Wayne State.
Brittany Cech had a career match on Tuesday, setting a career high in digs with 35. Her previous career high was 24 set back on Sept. 19, 2013. Cech ended the week with 62 digs.
Augustana is entering a crucial point in their season as they fight to reach 20-wins and make the NSIC tournament after missing it last season. The top eight teams in the conference will earn a spot in the tournament, with the top-four seeds hosting a first round game followed by by the highest remaining seed hosting the semi-finals and finals. Augustana is currently tied for fifth with Minnesota Duluth, while holding a one match lead over both Winona State and Minnesota State who are both 8-6 in the conference.
The first serve between the Vikings and the Dragons of MSU Moorhead is set to begin at 7 p.m. on Friday with the match against No. 2 Northern State set for a first serve time of 5 p.m. on Saturday. You can follow all the action via twitter
