SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - No. 20 Augustana volleyball (12-4, 5-3 NSIC) found the winning touch once again Friday night at the Elmen Center, defeating Minnesota Crookston (7-9, 3-5 NSIC) in straight sets, 25-17, 25-21, 25-15.
The Vikings started quick grabbing the first points of the match before jumping out to a 16-10 lead, forcing the Golden Eagles to burn a timeout. The Vikings got the lead to 19-13 before Minnesota Crookston went on a run 4-1 run cutting into the deficit 20-17. Behind the arm of redshirt freshman
Lauren Waite, the Vikings were able to weather the storm to take the first set, 25-17.
Set two saw the Golden Eagles grab their only lead of the match at 13-12. Augustana would use a 6-1 run to take, and build on, their late lead. A kill by junior
Becca Finley would put set two away for Augustana 25-21. Augustana grabbed the lead early in set-three, using a 7-1 and 7-2 run to jump out to a 21-10 lead. Junior
Dani Magdzas, notched two kills late to help Augustana close out Minnesota Crookston in straight sets.
Augustana was led by player of the game,
Lauren Waite. Waite had 13 kills on 20 attempts for a career high hitting percentage of .650 with at-least 15 attempts. Waite added eight digs, two total blocks and a service ace Friday night.
Joining Waite with double-digit kills was Magdzas. Magdzas had 10, while senior
Sydney Hunsley added seven. The Vikings had a match high 48 kills as a team.

Tahlyr Banks led the Vikings with 18 digs, giving her a season total of 338. Junior
Brittany Cech added 11 digs for a team total of 51.

Alex Banker tied for the team lead in assists with 22. Augustana had 47 assists as a team.
The Vikings won the serivce ace battle Friday night with six to the Golden Eagles one. Sophomore
Ashley Wilson led the team with a season-high three aces. Banks, Banker and Waite each add another.
Augustana had four total blocks as a team. The Vikings had a trio of girls with two blocks. Finley, Wilson and Waite each had two assisted blocks. Hunsley and Magdzas each added an assisted block of their own.
