SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – No. 1 Augustana University men's basketball (1-1) is set to open Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference play tonight at Wayne State College (1-2). The Vikings and Wildcats will tip-off from Rice Auditorium in Wayne, Neb. at 8 p.m.
 
Augustana enters NSIC play with a record of 1-1 on the season after last Thursday's win over Northwest Missouri State. The Vikings were on the right side of another close game last week when Daniel Jansen hit a 3-pointer with 0.5 seconds left on the clock to lift the Vikings past the visiting Bearcats 79-77.
 
The week before, the Vikings dropped a heartbreaker 88-86 to Washburn in Las Vegas. Three of Augustana's four games this season, including the exhibition win over Iowa, have been decided by just two points.
 
Augustana enters conference play averaging 82.5 points and 32.5 rebounds in its first two games of the season. The Vikings are shooting 48.3 percent from the field, including 42.3 percent from behind the arc. Augustana has made 11 3-pointers in each of its first two games this season. In 2014-15, Augusatna was 16-0 when knocking down 10 or more 3-pointers in a game.
 
Entering Monday night's game, four of Augustana's five starters are averaging double-digits in points, led by Daniel Jansen at 20.0 points per game. Casey Schilling enters the contest averaging 16.5 points, 11.0 rebounds, two assists and two steals.
 
Alex Richter enters tonight's game just 21 points shy of 1,000 for his career. He would become the third player on the current roster to have scored 1,000-plus points in a career. Richter opened the season with 22 points behind a career-high six 3-pointers against Washburn on Nov. 13. Against Northwest Missouri State last Thursday Richter scored 14 points to go along with nine rebounds.
 
Adam Beyer has had a fast start to the 2015-16 campaign as well enter tonight's contest averaging 12.5 points, 3.0 rebounds and 5.0 assists per game. Beyer pitched in 14 points, five rebounds and five assists against the Bearcats on Thursday night.
 
The Vikings will hit the road right from Wayne, Neb. and head to Puerto Rico for a pair of games over break. Augustana will play Turabo out of Puerto Rico on Friday, Nov. 27 at 5 p.m. before playing against American (Puerto Rico) on Saturday at 5 p.m.
