SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - The Augustana women's basketball team (4-1, 0-1 NSIC) used a fast start to pounce on the Bobcats of Peru State College (1-6) and start the holiday season off victorious with a 99-55 win Wednesday afternoon in the Elmen Center.
The Vikings opened the game with a quick 11-0 run thanks to redshirt freshman
Shelby Selland who was making her first career start and had six of the first 11 Vikings points. Following the quick surplus of points, the Vikings never took their foot off the pedal. They shot an astonishing 59% from the field in the first half on 23-39 Â shooting while going 4-7 from the free-throw line. Augustana built on the momentum they had gained after the first two quarters to end the game with a 53 percent shooting mark for the game.
IT'S RAINING THREE'SAugustana shot just 35 percent from behind the arc against Peru State in the first half but turned it in the second half shooting an unheard of, 79 percent in the second half on 5-9 shooting. The Vikings opened up the third quarter knocking down four straight three-pointers. Rome started the action off from the wing, followed by
Logan O'Farrell, Selland and then O'Farrell again. The barrage of three-pointers helped Augustana increase their lead to 40-points early in the quarter, they lead by as many as 48 in the game. Augustana ended the game with a 53 percent shooting percentage from behind the arc.
The hot hands from the three-point arc against Peru State were L. O'Farrell and Selland who each shot 100% on 2-2 shooting.
FIRST CAREER STARTRedshirt Freshman
Shelby Selland made her first career start against Peru State. Selland helped the Vikings jump out to an 11-0 against the Bobcats with six of the first 11 points of the first quarter. Selland was a perfect 6-6 from the field, 1-1 from the charity stripe and 2-2 from behind the arc. She had career-high four blocks and added two rebounds to her totals.

Freshman
Lynsey Prosser had a career-high 15 points in the win over Peru State. Prosser was 4-13 from the field and 1-4 from behind the arc but went 6-8 from the free-throw line.
Presley O'Farrell also scored 14 points against Peru State, which tied a career-high. She last scored 14-points back on 11/27/14 against Colorado Christian.
The other Vikings to score in double figures were

UP NEXTThe Vikings will be back in action again this Saturday when they welcome the Dordt College Defenders to the Elmen Center to close out the holiday weekend. Tip-off against the Defenders is set for 4 p.m.
