SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – No. 1 seed Augustana men's basketball (31-2) continues play in the NCAA Central Region Tournament and will take on No. 4 seed Northwest Missouri State (24-6) in the semifinals at 7:30 p.m. tonight at the Sanford Pentagon. The Vikings advanced to the semifinals after a 104-77 win over Arkansas Tech on Saturday evening.
Northwest Missouri State trailed by as much as 14 in the second half, but rallied to defeat No. 5 seed Minnesota State 59-56 in last night's final game of the four quarterfinal match-ups.
Augustana is playing in the region semifinals for the sixth time in program history. The Vikings were last in the region semifinals in 2012-13 in Mankato, Minn.
With last night's win, Augustana improved to 10-13 all-time in the NCAA Tournament. Augustana scored a season-high 104 points last night, marking the second time this season hitting triple-digits. Augustana has scored 100-plus points in the NCAA Tournament three times in program history.
Tonight's game will be the fifth ever between the Vikings and Bearcats. The two teams first met in 1984-85 and squared-off against each other in four consecutive years. Augustana and Northwest Missouri State have each won two of the four games played in the series.
