Augustana football travels north to take on MSU Moorhead

The Vikings and Dragons are two of the six remaining unbeaten teams in the NSIC

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The Augustana University football team (2-0) will return to the road Saturday, Sept. 19, for a match-up against MSU Moorhead (2-0). Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. at Scheels Field in Moorhead, Minn. where two of the six remaining unbeaten NSIC teams will square-off.

The Vikings, who received votes in this week's AFCA Top 25 Poll, are coming off a 41-27 victory over St. Cloud State in their home opener last weekend. The Dragons find themselves at 2-0 on the season after picking up a 30-28 win over Concordia-St. Paul on a last-second Hail Mary pass last Saturday on the road.

Saturday's game will be just the third meeting between Augustana and MSU Moorhead. The Vikings are 3-0 all-time against the Dragons and will be playing in Moorhead, Minn. for just the second time.

The Vikings and Dragons last met on Sept. 7, 2013, the season-opener for both teams, with the Vikings earning a 41-28 victory in the first game of Jerry Olszewski's tenure at Augustana.

For the second straight week, Augustana has had a player earn player of the week honors from the NSIC. Charlie Hayes was named the NSIC's Offensive Player of the Week after catching 11 passes for 266 yards and four touchdowns. Trey Heid finished the game completing 18 passes for a career-high 394 yards and four touchdowns having two 100-yard receivers in the game. Matt Heller hauled in four passes for 106 yards for the Vikings marking the first time Augustana has had two 100-yard receivers in the same game since Sept. 8, 2010.

The Vikings were led defensively by career-best efforts from Steven Miller and Chad Curry. For the second straight game, Miller recorded a career-high 14 tackles while Curry pitched in with a career-best 11 tackles against the Huskies. Justin Brown picked-off a pass for the second straight game, and his interception set up a Viking scoring drive.

After Saturday's game at MSU Moorhead, the Vikings will spend two straight weeks at Kirkeby-Over Stadium, first welcoming Minot State on Sept. 26.
