SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - Augustana University (18-1, 15-0 NSIC) got a career-high 16 assists from
Jordan Spencer and saw
Casey Schilling move into 8th all-time on the career scoring list against the University of Mary (13-8, 8-7 NSIC) as they defeated the Marauders 87-80 at the Sioux Falls Arena Saturday afternoon.
The Vikings used a strong first-half to jump out to a 54-35 lead at the half. The Vikings shot 56 percent on 21-of-37 shooting, while also shooting 42 percent on 6-of-14 shooting from behind the arc in the half. Coming out of the break, U-Mary put  scare into the Vikings.
The Marauders chipped away at  the Viking lead throughout the second half, using a 23-13 run during the middle of the half to cut the Vikings lead to just two. The University of Mary wasn't able to get it any closer than two however.
Alex Richter went to the free-throw line with three minutes left, knocking down both. After the clutch free-throws from the senior, the Vikings went on a 10-7 run to put the game away.
VIKINGS OF NOTECasey Schilling moved into 8th all-time on the Augustana scoring list with 27 points against U-Mary. Schilling passed Scott Beckstrand (1990-94) who scored 1,681 points in his brilliant career. He entered the day needing 19-points to take over the 8th spot. Schilling earned his 28th double-double of his career with 27-points and 13 rebounds.
Sophomore
Jordan Spencer was a magician against U-Mary Saturday. Spencer set a career-high with 16 assists. Spencer's 16 assists puts him in elite company as he is now tied for the fourth best mark in school history. Spencer joins Dana Grimsrud who had 16 assists against Morningside College back in the 1990-91 season in the fourth spot. The top mark in school history belongs to Pat Frieidel who had 19 against North Dakota State during the 1987-88 season.
VIKING QUICK HITS• Schilling moved into 8th on the all-time scoring list. He now has 1,690 career points
• Jansen scored 25 points and now has 1,926 points for his career. Jansen needs just 39 points to claim the top spot for most points scored in a career.
• With Spencer's 16 assists, he now has 144 assists on the season while averaging 7.6 assists per game. Spencer is now 96 assists away from breaking the record for assists in a single season. The record is 240, held by Pat Freidel during the 1987-88 season
• U-Mary out scored Augustana 45-33 in the second half
• Richter scored in double-figures for the second consecutive game with 13. Richter has now reached double-digits in 12 games this season
• The Vikings home winning streak increased to 25 in a row with the victory over U-Mary
• Schilling has now scored 1,181 career points in conference games alone. That number puts him into ninth all-time on the NSIC all-time scoring list. He jumped from 13th to ninth.
• Jansen has now scored 1,392 career NSIC points. With his 25 against U-Mary, Jansen moved into third all-time in NSIC scoring. He trails Cody Schilling by just two points for the second spot.
• The Vikings hold the top-3 spots on the NSIC Career Scoring list: Cam McCaffery (1,455), Cody Schilling (1,394) and Dan Jansen (1,392)
• Jansen earned his 20th career double-double with 25 points and 11 rebounds
• Alex Richter earned his first dunk of the season against U-Mary. Richter now has five dunks in his career
