ORANGE, Calif. – The Augustana women's basketball team (1-2) fell to No. 3 West Texas A&M 65-57 Sunday night in their final game of the Division II Conference Commissioners Association Tip-Off Classic Sunday night.
 
The first-quarter was as even as you could get with Augustana opening the game with the first five points before West Texas scored five of their own. The two teams traded baskets for the rest of the quarter with neither team getting a lead larger than three points. The two teams entered the second tied at 11.
 
Augustana took a two-point lead at the start of the second before WT tied the game once again. After the Vikings took a 17-16 lead they went on a small three-minute scoring drought but the defense was able to limit WT to just six points. Augustana was able to tie the game at 22 but West Texas took a four-point lead into the break.
 
The third quarter started slow for the Vikings, only scoring twice in the first 3 minutes of the quarter and allowing the Buffs to take a nine-point lead at 39-30. Towards the end of the quarter, the Vikings were able to get to within five before ending the quarter down seven at 45-38.
 
Augustana scored first in the fourth to cut the deficit to five and were able to get to within four points with six minutes left in the game. After getting to within four points and three by WT made the deficit seven. The Vikings weren't able to get within five the rest of the night, falling to West Texas 65-57.

• Logan O'Farrell led the team in scoring for the third straight game with 14
• Presley O'Farrell was the only other Viking in double-figures with 11

• Logan also led the team in rebounds with seven
• Augustana scored 32 points in the paint
• The Vikings forced 24 Buff turnovers and turned that into 21 points

The Vikings will be back in action on Nov. 15 against Buena Vista. The game is scheduled to start at 7 p.m. and will be played at the Elmen Center.
