ST. PAUL, MINN. - No. 6 seed Augustana Volleyball will take on No. 2 seed Southwest Minnesota State in the NCAA Central Regional Semifinal tomorrow night at 5 p.m. in the Gangelhoff Center in St. Paul, Minnesota.
Both teams enter the contest with a 27-5 records after opening round wins in the NCAA Tournament. The Mustangs defeated NSIC foe Wayne State College in 4-sets to advance to the semifinal.
This will be the second meeting of the season against Augustana and SMSU. The two programs met in the first NSIC match of the year back on Sept. 15. Augustana traveled to Marshall, Minn. for that match and walked away with a 5-set win (17-25, 25-19, 19-25, 25-18, 15-11) over the then No. 4 ranked Mustangs.
Augustana and SMSU are tied in the all-time series with a record of 28-28-1. The Vikings and Mustangs are 2-2 in the last four meetings. Prior to Augustana's 5-set win in Marshall back on Sept. 23, 2014 the Vikings had lost 15 straight matches. When the two programs meet on a neutral court SMSU leads the series 11-3.
