Augustana men's basketball set for Northern State and MSU Moorhead on the road Friday and Saturday

No. 1 Augustana begins four-game road swing at Northern State and MSU Moorhead this weekend

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – No. 1 Augustana University men's basketball (19-1, 16-0 NSIC) begins a four-game road swing with a crucial weekend against NSIC North Division opponents this Friday and Saturday. The Vikings will travel to Aberdeen, S.D. on Friday, Feb. 5, to take on Northern State at 8 p.m. Augustana will then head to Moorhead, Minn. to do battle with NSIC North Division leader MSU Moorhead at 6 p.m. on Saturday.
 
After taking on Northern State and MSU Moorhead this weekend, Augustana will stay on the road next weekend at Southwest Minnesota State and Sioux Falls Feb. 12-13.
 
Storylines
• Augustana is ranked No. 1 in the National Association of Basketball Coaches' Top 25 Poll for the second straight week
• Augustana has been ranked in the NABC Top 25 Poll for 26 straight weeks, including 20 straight weeks in the top 10
• The No. 1 ranking is the highest in program history for the Vikings
• Augustana is currently riding a 19-game winning streak which is tied for the longest in school history which was set last season
• Augustana also has a home winning streak of 26 straight games
• Senior forward Daniel Jansen within reach of Augustana's all-time scoring record
• Jansen needs just 25 points to become Augustana's all-time leading scorer
• Jansen has scored 1,939 career points and is on the heels of Cameron McCaffrey who holds the record of 1,964 career points from 2009-13
• Jansen is also making his way up the NSIC all-time scoring leaders list
• Jansen has scored 1,394 points in 84 career NSIC games and ranks second all-time between Cameron McCaffrey who ranks first with 1,455 points and Cody Schilling who ranks third with 1,394 points in NSIC play
• Senior forward Casey Schilling registered his 28th career double-double against U-Mary last Saturday finishing with 27 points and 13 rebounds
• Schilling enters the weekend ranked seventh all-time at Augustana having scored 1,712 career points
• Sophomore guard Jordan Spencer dished out a career-high 16 assists in a win over U-Mary last Saturday becoming the first Viking with 15 or more assists in a game since Jon Wagner had 17 against Dakota State on Nov. 20, 2000
• Spencer leads the NSIC and ranks third in the country averaging 7.5 assists per game
• The Vikings enter the weekend ranked fifth in the country averaging an NSIC-leading 92.7 points per game
• The Vikings lead the nation with a +22.4 scoring margin on the season
• The Vikings also lead the NSIC and rank second in the nation averaging 20.2 assists per game
• Augustana has continued to shoot well throughout the season and enters the weekend leading the NSIC and ranked 11th nationally shooting 49.8 percent from the field
 
About Northern State
• Northern State enters the weekend with a record of 12-10 on the season, including 8-8 in NSIC play
• The Wolves were swept on the road last weekend falling 119-115 at Minnesota State and 84-76 at Concordia-St. Paul
• Northern State is averaging 82.5 points per game on the season while allowing 78.5
• The Wolves are shooting 48.7 percent from the field, including 41.4 percent from 3-point range
• NSU has shot 69.7 percent from the free throw line and is averaging 16.2 made free throws per contest

• MSUM then defeated Minnesota State 94-89 in overtime on Saturday
• The Dragons are averaging 88.6 points per game and have out-scored opponents by 14.1 points per game
• MSUM is shooting 49.7 percent from the field, including 40.4 percent from behind the arc
• The Dragons are shooting 74.2 percent from the free throw line and are averaging 17.6 made free throws per game
