Vikings hit the road for final two games of a four-game swing

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Augustana University men's basketball will close-out a four-game road swing this weekend with a pair of games against NSIC North Division opponents. The Vikings (14-9, 9-5 NSIC) open the weekend at Minnesota Duluth (4-16, 3-11 NSIC) at 8 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 27 before taking on St. Cloud State (14-9, 10-4 NSIC) at 6 p.m. on Saturday in St. Cloud, Minnesota.
 
NSIC PLAYER(s) OF THE WEEK
• Junior guard Jordan Spencer earned NSIC South Division Player of the Week honors for the second time this season on Monday, Jan. 23
• Spencer also earned player of the week honors from the NSIC on Nov. 28
• Spencer averaged 28.0 points, 7.5 assists, 4.5 rebounds and 1.5 steals at Upper Iowa and Winona State last weekend
Mike Busack was named the NSIC South Division Player of the Week on Monday, Jan. 9
• Busack became the third different Viking to earn player of the week honors from the NSIC this season
• Senior guard Adam Beyer was named the NSIC South Division Player of the Week on Dec. 5
• The player of the week honors marked the first career weekly honor from the NSIC for all three players

• Augustana split a pair of NSIC South Division road games last weekend
• The Vikings lost a high-scoring affair at Upper Iowa on Friday night 95-91 after the Peacocks hit a 3-pointer with 0.5 seconds left
Jordan Spencer, who scored a career-high 34 points for the Vikings, tied the game at 91 with 5 seconds remaining before UIU hit the game-winning shot before the buzzer
• The Vikings shot 49.3 percent from the field at Upper Iowa, hitting 33 of 67 shots, including 15 of 30 3-pointers
• Augustana struggled from the free throw line hitting 10 of 15 (66.7 percent) from the stripe
• Augustana rebounded with a comeback win at Winona State on Saturday
• The Vikings trailed by as much as 13 in the second half before picking up a 73-71 win over the Warriors
Steven Schaefer hit a 3-pointer with 5:12 to play giving Augustana its first lead since three minutes into the contest and the Vikings held on to defeat the Warriors
Jordan Spencer hit a pair of free throws with four seconds left to give Augustana a 73-70 lead before Adam Beyer was called for a foul with 0.5 seconds left on a Riley Bambenek 3-point attempt
• Bambenek hit the first but missed the second, before intentionally missing the third
• Augustana had four players in double-figures, including Marcus Asmus and Steven Schaefer who pitched in with 10 each off the bench
 
ABOUT AUGUSTANA
• Augustana is averaging 82.8 points per game which ranks fourth in the NSIC
• The Vikings have out-scored opponents by 10.5 points per game which leads the NSIC and ranks 41st nationally
• Augustana is allowing just 72.3 points per game, the third-fewest in the NSIC
