SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - Augustana women's basketball (16-7,11-5 NSIC) closed out their two-week road trip on the wrong side of the scoreboard Saturday night in St. Cloud, Minn. The Vikings struggled on the offensive end as the fell to the Huskies 74-70.
The night started out like any other for the Vikings. Shots were going down and their defense was giving the Huskies fits. The Vikings rushed out to an early 9-2 lead just three minutes into the first quarter before the tide began to turn.
St. Cloud State (9-11,7-9 NSIC) went on a 10-2 run to earn their first lead of the game before Augustana retook the lead on a pair of
Presley O'Farrell free throws. The lead would be short-lived when SCSU's Amanda Christianson scored on the next possession to retake a 1-point lead.
On the next possession,
Abby Hora went 1-for-1 from the free throw line to tie the game at 14, but that would be the closest Augustana would get for the remainder of the contest. The Huskies went on a 10-0 to take a double-digit lead for the first time in the game before Selland ended the run. The Vikings went into the locker room trailing 39-23.
In the second-half Augustana began to find their rhythm as they chipped away at SCSU's lead, and went into the fourth quarter trailing by just 13-points. The Vikings kept fighting in the fourth but there wasn't enough time for the Vikings to complete the comeback, falling to the Huskies 74-70.

Shelby Selland was a standout performer for the Vikings, leading the team in scoring with 14-points and rebounding with 11. Selland did a little bit of everything for Augustana tonight, tying for the team lead in assists with four.

After a two week hiatus, the Vikings will finally be back at home this coming weekend. Augustana will host Minnesota Crookston and Bemidji State on Friday and Saturday.
