SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - The No. 3 seed Augustana women's soccer team (13-2-4) started its postseason off in thrilling fashion with a goal in the 88th minute to edge past the No. 6 Concordia-St. Paul (10-8-1), 2-1, in the first round of the NSIC tournament on Wednesday at Morstad Field.

Mackenzie Main's second goal of the season was a timely one and one of the most significant of her career. In the 88th minute Augustana had a corner kick and the kick ended up in a scrum in the box. The ball got knocked out to Main and she buried the shot in the right corner to give the Vikings the 2-1 win over the Golden Bears.
Another Viking senior scored the opening goal as
Ellie Knowles took a pass from
Reiley Klose and chipped it over the Concordia-St. Paul goalkeeper and into the need giving the Vikings a 1-0 lead in the 25th minute.
The Golden Bears made a switch at goalkeeper to start the second half and came out playing tough. Concordia-St. Paul tied the match in the 66th minute when Jordan Rowan Stafford took a pass from Kiara Myers, spun and fired it into the upper right corner.
Augustana outshot Concordia-St. Paul 13-8, but the Golden Bears recorded more shots in the second half, sporting a 6-4 advantage. Both teams had four shots on goal.
Main, Knowles and
Hannah Keirstead led the Vikings offensively with three shots apiece.
Taylor Machacek notched three saves on the afternoon.
The Vikings will take on second seed Bemidji State (15-0-3) in the NSIC semifinals on Friday, Nov. 3 at 11 a.m. in Mankato, Minn. Bemidji State defeated No. 7 seed Winona State (9-9-1), 3-2, earlier on Friday. No. 1 seed Minnesota State defeated No. 8 seed Minnesota Duluth (10-5-4), 1-1 (8-7 SO), in a shootout to host the NSIC semifinals on Friday and the finals on Sunday, Nov. 5.
