SIOUX FALLS, S.D. -- The College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced that Augustana volleyball standout
Tahlyr Banks has been named to the 2017 First-Team Academic All-District team, CoSIDA announced Wednesday afternoon.
Banks, an Omaha, Neb. native studying Business Administration, carries a 3.75 GPA and is the first Viking to receive this honor since current Augustana Assistant volleyball coach
Ellen Andrews was honored as a player in 2009.

Jennifer Jacobs said. "She gets it done in the class room and on the court. We are so proud to have her leading our team in all aspects. She is well rounded and extremely dedicated and is an outstanding remodel for her teammates and peers."
First-team Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® Team ballot, with first-, second- and third-team Academic All-America honorees to be announced in December.
The Academic All-District® teams include student-athletes and are divided into eight geographic districts across the United States and Canada. The CoSIDA Academic All-America® program separately recognizes honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and College Division. The College Division includes all NAIA, Canadian, two-year schools, and other affiliations.
Banks broke Augustana's all-time career dig record and currently holds the title with 2,377. Banks is a five time NSIC defensive player of the week honoree, a three time all-conference selection, two time academic all NSIC selection and last week was just named NSIC Libero of the year for the second year in a row.
Augustana (23-8, 13-7 NSIC) takes on second-seeded Southwest Minnesota State in the semifinals of the NSIC Tournament Saturday, Nov. 18 at noon at the Gangelhoff Center in St. Paul, Minnesota.
