Libero
Tahlyr Banks, setter
Alex Banker, outside hitter
Lauren Waite and middle blockers
Ashley Wilson and
Bailey Koch will be playing in their final match inside the Elmen Center.
"These five seniors have been such a blessing to this program and to me personally. I knew when I took this job that it had potential to be an emotional roller coaster for them as a class and for me as a first year head coach," head coach
Jennifer Jacobs said.
"This group has had now 3 coaches in their collegiate volleyball careers and that requires a special group of people to flex through those times. That being said, I believe that everything happens for a reason. I know they were meant to be in my life this season and myself in theirs. My hope is they feel good about their overall experience with Augustana volleyball through the many changes, the challenges, and some tears - but more importantly - the love, the family, the friendships and the amazing times together."
"There is no doubt in my mind that each one of them will go on to do amazing things in their careers and futures, and I pray that they remain connected to our volleyball family, and me as their final collegiate coach. This group has been the foundation of the program I came into and I will forever be grateful. God Bless you seniors, we love you and thank you for all you have done."
With wins over Bemidji State and Minnesota Crookston last weekend, Augustana clinched a spot in the NSIC tournament for the third consecutive season. Their seed, opponent and match time will be announced after Saturday's match.
Duluth enters the Elmen Center with a 22-4 overall record and a 15-3 record in conference play. The Bulldogs are riding a three match winning streak, with their last loss coming on Oct. 30 at Northern State.
The Huskies are 16-12 overall and 8-10 in the NSIC. They dropped their last match in four sets to No. 2 Southwest Minnesota State.
Augustana is (10-33) all-time vs. Minnesota Duluth. The Vikings lost to the Bulldogs previously this season back on Sept. 23 in Duluth in four sets.
The Vikings are (46-21) all-time vs. St. Cloud State and hold a 23-1 advantage when playing at home. Augustana defeated the Huskies in St. Cloud earlier this season on Sept. 22 in four sets.
