Vikings score a season-high 13 runs in win over Viterbo

ST. CLOUD, Minn. – Augustana softball kept the offense going in its second game at the Kelly Laas Memorial Softball Tournament as the Vikings earned a 13-0 win over Viterbo University (0-2) in five innings on Friday night. The Vikings improved to 3-4 on the season with the win.
 
Augustana scored a season-high 13 runs on 11 hits and had four players with two or more hits in the game.
 
Sarah Kennedy was 2 for 2 with a double and an RBI and Maggie Kadrlik was 2 for 2 with two doubles and two RBI. Christina Pickett was 1 for 3 and hit her second home run of the season.
 
Olivia Wolters won her first game of the season tossing 3.0 innings and striking out four batters.
 
Augustana jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the top of the first inning. Shannon Petersen drove in the game's first run with a sacrifice fly and the Vikings were able to plate four to grab an early lead.
 
Wolters set Viterbo down in order in two of her three innings pitched as the Viking offense tacked on five more runs in the second to make the score 9-0. Kennedy and Kadrlik each drove in runs with a double in the second inning and Picket belted a two-run home run.
 
Kadrlik drove in another run with her second double of the game and the Vikings added four more runs in the bottom of the fourth to race out to a 13-0 lead.
 
Augustana will close-out its four-game trip to the Kelly Laas Memorial Softball Invite with a pair of games against Nebraska-Kearney on Saturday. The Vikings and Lopers will play at 11:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. at the Huskydome.
