Volleyball Set For Home Opener Wednesday

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The ninth ranked Augustana Volleyball team hosts Texas A&M-Kingsville Wednesday, Sep. 6th at 7:30 p.m. for the team's home opener at the Elmen Center. Fans who bring new or gently used clothing items to the match will received a $5 general admission ticket. The items will be donated to the Hurricane Harvey relief efforts.

The Vikings (3-1, 0-0) posted wins over 15th –ranked CSU San Bernardino (3-0), Rollins (3-0) and Eastern New Mexico (3-0) at the Oredigger Classic over the weekend. Senior middle blocker Ashley Wilson was named to the All-Tournament team. Wilson accounted for 34 kills, 13 blocks and nine digs on the weekend.

In the win over CSUSB, senior setter Alex Banker chalked up a career high 40 assists. Courtney Place tallied up 12 kills and 10 digs while senior Tahlyr Banks had a team-high 18 digs. Place (12), Wilson (10) and Lauren Waite (11) each recorded double-digit kills in the win over Rollins while Banker earned a double-double with 35 assists and 11 digs. In the Oredigger Classic finale versus Eastern New Mexico, Place and Banker each had a .500 hitting percentage. Senior Bailey Koch had 8 kills while hitting .412.

Texas A&M – Kingsville (3-1) travels to Sioux Falls after competing in the Kathleen Brasfield ASU Invitational in San Angelo, Texas. The Javelina play Sioux Falls on Wednesday at 4 P.M. with the Augustana game to follow inside the Elmen Center.

Krystal Faison and Lexi Wick each earned All-Tournament Team honors over the weekend for Texas A&M – Kingsville. Faison concluded the tournament with 42 kills and paced the team with seven total aces. Wick led the Javelinas with a .392 hitting percentage on 48 kills and 12 blocks.

The Vikings are 2-0 all-time versus Texas A&M – Kingsville. The last time the two squads competed, Augustana won in three sets (25-17, 25-13, 25-22) in Anchorage, AK.
