CLERMONT, Fla. – The seventh consecutive win for the Augustana softball team came in the first game of the PFX Spring Games in Clermont, Fla., where the Vikings notched a 6-1 win over LIU Post.
 
The win boosts the Vikings to 8-4 on the season, while the Pioneers fall to 3-4.
 
An Ashley Mickschl double to center in the second inning that scored Maggie Kadrlik from first base opened the scoring. Mickschl scored three batters later on a Kalea Schorr single to put the Vikings up 2-0.
 
Still up 2-0 in the third, Mickschl knocked in Kadrlik again, this time in a single to right that gave Augie a 3-0 lead into the bottom of the third, when the Pioneers got one back to cut the lead to 3-1.
 
The Vikings fired right back with two more in the fourth, starting with an Amber Elliott homer down the left field line, followed by a Kylie Rome double later in the frame that scored Abbie Lund to give Augustana 5-1 lead.
 
An unearned insurance run in the seventh secure the win, the seventh straight for the Vikings, who return to action later on Saturday against St. Thomas Aquinas at 6 p.m.
 
Along with her big day at the plate, Mickschl started in the circle, where she gave up one run on five hits, with one walk over three innings. Elliott got the win though, tossing four one-hit innings, while walking one and striking out one to improve to 1-1 on the season.
