Baseball Sweeps Sunday to Take the Series Against Northern State

OMAHA, Neb. - The No. 12 Augustana baseball team (14-1, 3-1 NSIC) sweep the Sunday doubleheader against Northern State in Omaha, Neb. to take three out of four games in the series. The Vikings took game one, 4-2, and dominated game two, 10-0, behind a one-hit shutout from freshman Jed Schmidt.

GAME ONE: Augustana 4, Northern State 2
Augustana used a home run from Sam Baier and solid relief performances from Derek Dahlke and Michael Brandt.

The Wolves struck first with a pair of runs in the third inning, chasing Viking starter Clay Collison after three innings. The Vikings would get a run back in the third on a Michael Svozil two-out triple.

The Vikings took the lead in the fourth inning on Baier's two-run home run to left center field, giving Augustana a 3-2 lead. It was Baier's fourth homer of the season, tying Jordan Barth's as team leader. Barth would add the last run of the game in the sixth, when he scored on a wild pitch.
