EMPORIA, Kan. – The Augustana softball team returns home from its 13-game road trip winners of 11 of those games, but dropped the final two contests, the last being a 7-5 loss to Central Oklahoma on Sunday morning in the final game of the trip.
The Vikings return home to prepare of their first home game of the season with an 18-6 overall record, while the Bronchos head home with an 18-11 record.
Central Oklahoma broke a scoreless tie with three runs in the top of the third inning, adding two in the fifth and two more in the sixth to take a commanding 7-0 lead.
Augustana got back into the game with five runs in the sixth, getting RBI singles from
Shannon Petersen,
Maggie Kadrlik, followed by a three-run homerun from
Ashley Mickschl to cut the Bronchos lead to 7-5, but the rally went cold after that and neither team scored again.
The Vikings look to get back on the winning track on Friday, when they host Sioux Falls in a non-conference game at Bowden Field at 3 p.m.
