Augustana Women's Golf Takes First at DII National Preview

Alex Stone claims the individual title

ST. ALBANS, Mo. -- The Augustana women's golf team finished the fall season on a high note, taking home the team championship and the individual champ at the DII National Preview on Tuesday. Alex Stone shot a three-round score of 217 to take home the top honor while the Vikings as a team shot a score of 915 to edge out Limestone College by two strokes. 

Augustana defeated six opponents ranked in the Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) Top-25. 

Individually, Natalie Young fired off rounds of 68, 78 and 77 for a total of 223 and placed third overall. The first round score of 68 was a new career-low for Young. Hannah Hankinson tied for 15th place with a score of 232 (87-70-75). McKayla Poppens shot a three-round score of 249 (85-89-75) to tie for 56th place. Rounding out the scoring for the Vikings was Kait Asklund. Asklund tied for 64th place with a score of 260 (81-89-90). 

Annemarie Fisher competed as an individual at the event. Fisher shot a score of 93, 96 and 92 for a total of 281 and placed 75th. 

Up Next
The Vikings will look towards the spring season after a successful fall season.
