10/30/2019 12:00:00 PM

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. -- With the NSIC Tournament two weeks away, the NSIC regular season title is hanging in the balance and the Augustana women's soccer team (12-2-1) has a chance to cement a home seed in the tournament this weekend. It faces the No. 19 Minnesota State Mavericks (13-2-0) on Friday at 2 p.m. in Mankato, Minnesota and the No. 15 Concordia-St. Paul Golden Bears (13-0-2) on Sunday at 1 p.m. at Morstad Field in Sioux Falls.

The Games
The Vikings hit the road for the last time in the regular season on Friday when they take on the Mavericks. While Augustana plays its matchup with Minnesota State, Concordia-St. Paul will face off against the Wildcats of Wayne State in Saint Paul, Minnesota. On Sunday, the Vikings return home to face Concordia-St. Paul.

The Mavericks
The Mavericks come into their matchup with Augustana at 13-2-0 after a 2-0 weekend against Northern State and MSU Moorhead. Minnesota State is 10-2-0 in NSIC play and 7-1 at home.  Sophomore Jenny Vetter leads the Mavericks with 14 goals, seven assists and 35 points on the season. Senior goalkeeper Alexa Rabune has started 13 of the 15 games for Minnesota State and has posted 6 shutouts.

The Golden Bears
The Golden Bears come into their matchup with Augustana at 13-0-2 after a 2-0 weekend against Northern State and MSU Moorhead. Concordia-St. Paul is 10-0-2 in NSIC play and 4-0-2 on the road. Senior Hannah Pedersen leads the Golden Bears with five goals, 10 assists and 20 points on the season. Senior goalkeeper Jordyn Clark has started all 15 games for Concordia-St. Paul and has posted 9 shutouts.

The Vikings
Augustana is 2-25-0 in the all-time series with Minnesota State and 11-2-1 in the all-time series with Concordia-St. Paul. The Vikings suffered two losses against Minnesota State last season, however, they are on a seven-game win streak against Concordia-St. Paul.

The Vikings have only given up four goals in NSIC play and sophomore goalkeeper Claudia Pueschner is one of five NSIC goalkeepers that has not allowed double-digit goals this season. Pueschner also ranks fourth in the NSIC in save-percentage (.888).

Offensively, forwards Claire Dahm and Alexis Legg have led the charge for the Vikings of late. Dahm, a senior, has netted six goals in the last six games, while Legg, a sophomore, has knocked in four goals in the last six games. Dahm's six goals on the season are a career high.

Final Notes
The Vikings have won seven games in a row against the Concordia-St. Paul Golden Bears and are 6-0-1 against them at home, however, the Golden Bears are the last undefeated team in the conference. Unless Sunday's match results in a tie, one of those streaks will come to an end.

Sunday's match is sponsored by Tires, Tires, Tires, and it will be giving away free soccer balls to the first fans through the gates Sunday.

Also, Sunday's match is the annual Sioux Falls Area Humane Society day. Fans are encouraged to bring a money donation or any item from this wish list (bit.ly/2JhvfnN) to the match. Lewis Drug will match all monetary donations up to $500. Your donation goes to help animals find forever homes.
