SIOUX FALLS, S.D. -- After placing second at the Augustana Invite the Viking women's golf team will travel to Warrensburg, Missouri, to compete in the Midwest Classic Golf Tourney on Monday and Tuesday.
The Invite
The Vikings will be competing at the Mules National Golf Club that features a 650-yard par 5 hole. The teams will play two rounds, 18 holes on Monday and 18 holes on Tuesday.
The Opponents
Augustana will be one of seven NSIC teams competing in Missouri. The Vikings will face Sioux Falls, Winona State, Concordia-St. Paul, Southwest Minnesota State, Upper Iowa, and Minnesota State.
The Vikings
Augustana took home second-place at the Augustana Invite last weekend after shooting a two-round score of 626 to finish at +50 on the weekend.
Individually, the Vikings finished with five in the top-15. McKayla Poppens shot a two-round score of 156 to tie for fourth place while
Alex Stone tied for 11th after shooting a 160 (80/80).
Kait Asklund and
Molly Stevens rounded out the team scoring for the Vikings. Asklund finished with an 86 on the first day and followed that up with an 81 on the final day to finish with a 167 while Stevens tied for 30th after shooting a 169.
Golfer to Watch
Senior Hannah Hankinson finished second overall with a score of eight over-par (152). She improved her day one score of 79 by six strokes to finish with a 73 on Saturday. She now has four top-3 finishes this season.
One Last Thing
The Vikings have had an individual place first or second in all four tournaments they have competed in this season and have also finished as a team in either first or second place in all four tournaments. Stone leads the way with two tournament victories.
