BURNSVILLE, Minn. – Augustana men's basketball junior Matt Cartwright is the NSIC South Division Player of the Week the conference announced Tuesday. The honor is the first of Cartwright's career.
 
The Sioux Falls, South Dakota, native averaged 22 points over a pair of Viking victories to open the season. He scored 27 points in the season-opener over Arkansas Monticello and added 17 in the win at Central Missouri. Both games were part of the Opening Weekend Conference Challenge.
 
Cartwright shot 42 percent from the field and added 4.5 rebounds per game at the challenge.
 
The Vikings were the only school in the NSIC to grab two wins on the opening weekend of play and were one of three teams to not suffer a loss.  
 
Augustana continues a four-game road trip with the East/West Challenge beginning Friday in Spearfish, South Dakota. The Vikings face host Black Hills State at 8:30 p.m. while playing South Dakota Mines Saturday at 6:30 p.m.
