Viking Volleyball Travels to North Dakota in Road Finale

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. — The Augustana volleyball team will look to continue its hot streak over recent weeks when it travels to North Dakota to take on UMary on Friday at 6 p.m. and Minot State on Saturday at 2 p.m.

The Matches
The Vikings are looking to sweep the season series this weekend. Augustana defeated both UMary and Minot State in the home opener at the end of September. 

The Marauders (1-24, 0-16 NSIC) 
UMary is coming off dropping both matches against No. 7 Northern State and MSU Moorhead. The Marauders enter the match on a 19-match losing streak. 

UMary is led offensively by Morgan Schnabel with 2.77 kills per set while Amanda Doyle averages 1.88 kills per set. Sydney Murphy leads the team in two categories, assists (7.28/set) and hitting percentage (.151). Defensively, Natalia Cruz leads the charge with 3.94 digs per set while Julianna Hughes has averaged a team-high 41 blocks on the season.

As a team, the Marauders have averaged 10 kills, 9.4 assists and 1.0 aces per set. Defensively, UMary has averaged 15 digs per set and 1.3 blocks per set. 

Augustana leads the all-time series with a 17-0 record and a 7-0 record in Bismarck.

The Beavers (3-22, 2-14 NSIC)
Minot State is coming off splitting a pair of matches to MSU Moorhead and No. 7 Northern State over last weekend. The Beavers defeated MSU Moorhead 3-1 before falling to the Wolves 3-0. 

The Beavers are led by Shelby Spuller with 3.42 kills per set while Emily Falldorf has averaged 1.94 kills per set. Mackenzie Froehlich leads the team with 8.02 assists per set while Hayley Swain leads the team with a .259 hitting percentage. Defensively, Karli Koza leads the team with 4.38 digs per set while Swain has recorded 63 blocks and 0.74 blocks per set. 

As a team, the Beavers have averaged 10.1 kills, 9.3 assists and 0.8 aces per set. Defensively, Minot State averages 13.8 digs per set and 1.4 blocks per set. 

Augustana leads the all-time series with a 12-0 record and a 4-0 record playing in Minot. 

The Vikings (17-8, 10-6 NSIC) 
Augustana is coming off a five-set thrilling win against No. 12 Wayne State and a sweep over No. 15 Southwest Minnesota State. Currently, the Vikings sit in seventh place in the conference with four matches remaining. 

The Vikings are led offensively by Maddy Guetter and Grace Haberland. Guetter has a team-high 2.93 kills per set while Haberland has averaged 2.39 kills per set, 2.67 digs per set and has a team-high 35 aces on the season. Avery Thorson has averaged a team-high 10.09 assists and 2.60 digs while Izzy Sommers has hit at a team-high .281 clip and has totaled 60 blocks this season. 

Defensively, Abby Benson and Erike Bute have led the charge this season for the Vikings. Benson has a team-high 83 blocks while Bute ranks second in the NSIC with 5.44 digs per set. 

As a team, the Vikings has averaged 13 kills, 11.9 assists and 1.7 aces per set. Defensively, Augustana has averaged 17.7 digs per set which ranks second in the NSIC and 1.8 blocks per set. 

One Last Thing
Augustana matched its longest win streak at five-straight wins on the season and has won the last five of six dating back to its win over then No. 8 St. Cloud State. During the hot streak, the Vikings have defeated four opponents that are currently ranked or once ranked in the AVCA top-25 this season.
