Augustana Women’s Golf Signs Three

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. -- The Augustana women's golf team signed three student-athletes for the 2020-21 season head coach Peggy Kirby announced Tuesday. The class includes Rachel Schwarz, Lauren Tims and Rachel Halvorson.

Rachel Schwarz | Marshall, Minn. | Marshall High School 
In her junior season, she finished fifth in sections to qualify for the Minnesota State Golf Meet where she shot a seven over-par, 79. At the Minnewaska Invite earlier in the season she placed second place with a +5 (77) and placed fourth at the Sanford Futures Tour. She was an AA Minnesota State Participant along with earning AA Minnesota All-State individual and AA Minnesota all-conference. 

At Augustana, Schwarz plans to major in mathematics. 

Lauren Tims | Sioux Falls, S.D. | Sioux Falls Christian 
In 2019, Tims finished third at the region meet and earned runner-up honors at the State A meet. In 2018, she placed fourth at the region meet and sixth at the state meet. She has earned two all-tournament team honors. In 2017, she placed fifth at the regional meet and 14th at the state golf meet. 

Tims plans to major in business and hopes to own her own business someday after college. 

Rachel Halvorson |Madison, Minnesota | Lac qui Parle Valley High School
Halvorson is a two-time state champion, a three-time all-conference MVP and a three-time member of the all-state team. In 2019, Halvorson earned all-conference MVP and won the conference, section and state championships. She helped her team to conference and section champs as well as third place at the state tournament. She shot an average of 77.8 in her junior year.

Halvorson is undecided on her major.
