KISSIMMEE, FLA. -- The Augustana baseball team faced their fourth Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) opponent of their week-long trip to Florida on Tuesday as they took on Wayne State (MI). The Vikings (7-4) fell to the Warriors (11-3) in extra innings after holding a 2-0 lead headed into the eighth inning.
The extra-inning defeat comes after a pair of games in which Augustana put up 37 runs combined. The Vikings and Warriors were scoreless for four innings before Augustana broke through with a run in the fourth inning on a passed ball that scored
Ford Schroeder.Â
The second run of the day for Augustana came in the fifth inning as
Will Olson came in to pinch hit, he promptly singled to left field to drive in
Mitch Stroh. Wayne State would score the next four runs of the game to win it, putting up two runs in both the eighth and 10th innings.Â
Max Steffens continued to impress during the RussMatt Invitational, finishing his second straight start without giving up an earned run. Steffens has dealt 14 straight innings without surrendering an earned run.Â
Augustana returns to Auburndale, Fla. for their final game of their Spring trip to face off with No. 10 West Chester.
