BURNSVILLE, Minn. — Along with strong seasons in competition, Augustana student-athletes have also excelled in the classroom. On Friday, the Northern Sun Conference announced their All-Academic teams for the 2019 winter season, and 74 Augustana student-athletes are honored by the conference. The 74 Viking student-athletes honored are the most of any school in the NSIC. 

In addition, 40 Viking student-athletes earned the conferences top academic award, the NSIC All-Academic Team of Excellence. To be eligible for the NSIC All-Academic Team of Excellence, a student-athlete must have a 3.60 cumulative GPA or higher.

Four Vikings, Claire Boersma, Elizabeth Yoder, Rachel Rairdon, and Leah Seivert earned a perfect 4.0 GPA. All four are members of the women's track and field team.

To be eligible for the NSIC All-Academic teams, a student-athletes must have a 3.20 cumulative GPA or higher, be a member of the varsity traveling team, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standing at her/his institution (true freshmen, red-shirt freshman, ineligible athletic transfers are not eligible) and must have completed at least one full academic year at that institution.

Overall, 669 Northern Sun Conference student-athletes earned NSIC All-Academic, with 355 student-athletes were named to the NSIC All-Academic Team of Excellence.
