SIOUX FALLS -- The Augustana women's golf team will travel to Missouri on Monday to compete in the Jennies Golf Invite in Warrensburg, Mo. The tournament starts on Monday and will conclude on Tuesday.
The Jennies Golf Invite will be played at the Keth Memorial Golf Course in Warrensburg, Mo. The 6000 yard, par 70 course features an island green on the 18th hole and provides a difficult, yet fair challenge for golfers of every ability.
Arkansas Tech won the event last year with a score of +45 (613) while Samantha Crawford of Nebraska-Kearney won the individual title with a score of +3 (145).
Last week Augustana opened up their spring season with a six-place finish at the Augustana Spring Fling with a team score of +75 (651). Individually, the Vikings had four place in the top-25 with everyone having a strong round. Hannah Hankinson placed third at +9 (153) to lead Augustana individually.
McKayla Poppens tied for 11th place as she shot a +16 (160) and
Kait Asklundplayed as an individual and shot 21-over par (165) for 23rd place.
Earlier this year, Augustana was picked to finish first at the Northern Sun Championships receiving all 11 first-place votes and tallied 121 points to rank ahead of Minnesota State, which tallied 111 points and the other first-place vote. Junior Hannah Hankinson was also voted by the league coaches as the NSIC Preseason Women's Golfer of the Year. The Vikings have won the last nine NSIC titles and 10 in the last 11 years.
