Vikings Remain Undefeated in Conference Play

Augustana splits games three and four with U-Mary

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. -- The Augustana baseball team (15-6, 8-0 NSIC) remained undefeated in Northern Sun play on Sunday after splitting a doubleheader with U-Mary (8-12, 4-4 NSIC) in the back end of a four-game series. The Vikings won game three of the series 11-1, while narrowly falling in a non-conference game four 8-1.

Game Three

The Vikings took advantage of numerous errors by U-Mary in as the Marauders recorded eight errors on the game, with six of them occurring in the sixth-through-seventh innings when Augustana scored five of their runs.

Ryan Nickel, Sam Baier, Seth Miller, and JT Mix each recorded multi-hit games against the Marauders, with Nickel extending his hitting streak to 20 games. Baier highlighted the game with a three RBI double in the bottom of the third inning that gave the Vikings a 4-0 lead.

On the mound for the Vikings in the first game of the day, Evan Furst pitched 6.2 innings to secure his second win of the year, tossing over 100 pitches and striking out six batters.

Game Four

Augustana's bats went cold in the second game of the day right as U-Mary's heated up. U-Mary scored efficiently on the game, scoring eight runs on eight hits.

Augustana's Riley Johnson extended his hitting streak to 17 games, while Baier provided the lone RBI of the game for the Vikings. Jordan Barth recorded the only multi-hit game for Augustana.

Josh Olson made his first collegiate appearance in the fifth inning as he pitched two complete innings with no earned runs, one hit, and one strikeout. Michael Jensen made his collegiate debut as well in the seventh inning, striking out one and allowing zero hits.
