SIOUX CITY, Iowa -- The Augustana men's tennis team returned to action in Sioux City against Morningside for their season finale. The Vikings picked up the 7-0 win to improve to 9-10 on the season. The Mustangs fell to 4-12 on the season.
The Vikings swept all doubles matches to claim the doubles point and swept all six singles matches to earn the 7-0 win. Augustana earns their second straight win and finishes the year winning the last three out of four matches on the season.

Marc Kurtz was pleased with how well the guys played in the season finale.Â
"Whenever you can get a sweep and win every match it's a great day," Kurtz said. "I'm really proud of the effort and work that this team put in all season long. We were challenged this year with a difficult schedule but we played very well and had some good wins."
Starting the day in doubles action, Logan Barr and
Joe Sawatzke defeated Bernardo Cadario and Samuel Castro 8-0 in No. 1 Doubles action and
Frank Kelly and
Eden Mrozek picked up the 8-4 win over Jesus Angel Sanz and Jory Opp in No. 2 Singles. Finishing out the doubles action for the year was
Austin VanDerWeide and
North Knewtson in No. 3 Doubles, the duo took down Max Prochaska and Garrett Seamans 8-4.
In singles action, VanDerWeide defeated Cadario 6-4, 6-2 in No. 1 Singles action, Barr picked up a 6-0, 6-1 win over Castro in No. 2 Singles and in No. 3 Singles Sawatzke downed Sanz 6-2, 6-0.
Mrozek picked up his seventh win of the season in a 6-4, 6-1 win over Prochaska. Knewtson defeated Opp 6-0, 6-2 for his 13th win of the season and
Kelly rounded out the singles action with a 6-4, 6-1 win over Seamans.
The Vikings finished the season with a 53-58 record in singles action and a 30-24 record in doubles play. Augustana loses two great seniors in VanDerWeide and Sawatzke. VanDerWeide went 8-10 this season in singles play and 14-4 in doubles action while Sawatzke went 8-10 in singles and 8-9 in doubles action.
"We will certainly miss our two seniors Austin and Joe," Kurtz said. "They've been awesome to have on the team, they were both very coachable, great work ethics and they turned into great captains and leaders for us. We will miss you guys!"
