SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The Augustana women's tennis team moved to 2-0 in NSIC action with a 7-0 win over Bemidji State Sunday morning. For the season, the Vikings are now 5-0 in dual action.
"It was a solid opening NSIC weekend," head coach
Marc Kurtz said. "I like where we are at right now but we need to continue working on some things and improving in practice as we progress throughout the season."
The Vikings took the doubles point with all three doubles teams claiming the victory.
Laura Arce Vieyra and
Grace Goble partnered at No. 1 doubles while
Anca Rusu and
Rebecca Falkner partnered at No. 3 doubles with both earning 6-0 wins.
Aleksandra Kistanova and
Emily Granson played No. 2 doubles where they secured a 6-1 win.
The Vikings swept singles action with Are Vieyra claiming a 6-0, 6-3 win at No. 1. Goble won No. 2 singles 6-0, 6-2. At No. 3, Kistanova prevailed 6-2, 6-1 at No. 3.
Taylor Jackson, Granson and Falkner played singles No. 4-6, respectively. Jackson won 6-2, 6-0, Granson 6-0, 6-1 and Falkner 6-1, 6-1.
Augustana has now won 112-straight NSIC duals and looks to continue the streak on Saturday against Winona State and Sunday vs. Upper Iowa. Saturday's dual begins at 6 p.m. while Sunday's is slated for 9 a.m. Both matches take place at GreatLIFE Woodlake Athletic Club.
